Business Events: Tips for Creating a Memorable Experience

Business events are a great way to provide value to customers and clients. They can be used to build relationships, promote new products or services, foster collaboration, and create brand awareness.

Tips for Creating  Value and Memorable Experience

When creating business events, you should focus on creating an engaging experience for attendees. Here are some tips to consider:

  • Have a clear purpose for your event
  • Tailor the content and activities to the audience
  • Plan for networking opportunities
  • Incorporate activities that will encourage conversations and engagement
  • Measure the success of the event by tracking attendance, engagement, and customer feedback (In another article, I will share tips about your Event ROI (return on investment).

Keep in mind that these tips are just a starting point. You can get creative and experiment with different approaches to create an event that perfectly aligns with your business goals and audience.

Client Strategy: Each business quarter I work with my client to create a networking event for their non-profit organization. We created an event calendar for the year, determined the event theme for each quarter, determined the event goals, and created a formula for networking activities to maximize conversation and engagement. By following these tips, we have been able to create memorable experiences for attendees and achieve our event goals.

Additionally, it can be helpful to offer unique and interactive experiences that will set your event apart from others. This can include incorporating technology, providing hands-on activities, or inviting industry experts to speak. Remember to keep the event organized and well-planned, with clear communication to attendees about what they can expect. With these tips in mind, you can create business events that provide value to your audience and help you achieve your business goals.

How I Began Building My Authority and Increasing My Visibility within my Industry

Over the past fifteen years, I have produced community events, corporate meetings, conferences, business dinners, and award galas.

I also had a 9 to 5  within the non-profit sector where I served as a volunteer coordinator, program manager for an awards program. During the pandemic, I was furloughed and eventually laid off. This is when I realized that I needed to up-level my side business because I decided then and there I wanted to make my side business my primary business.

Let’s be real, I admit I was going to miss receiving that paycheck every two weeks…but that was the only thing I was going to miss.  So, I took advantage of being home and reached out to my personal and business network along with past clients to seek business opportunities. I also worked on a plan to get known within my industry.  This was the start of my Build Your Authority 3-part Framework.

I’m sharing a little of my story because I know there is someone out there who is nervous about starting their business or unsure of how to move to the next level in their current business. There is so much opportunity out there for you. The first thing is to TRUST yourself and know that you are positioned for purpose!

Once I implemented this framework, the opportunities and ideas for my business followed. I established new agreements with my old clients, secured event clarity sessions with a new client, and created The Build Your Authority Summit. This summit was a vision that I had for women in business to connect, support, and empower each other. This event will help women find their value and voice. If you are interested in attending the next summit, join our mailing list.

Events for Business: Create a Virtual Meetup

Recently, one of the ladies in my biz circle who is also an event planner asked if I could serve as a breakout room host for her client’s event. This event was a virtual meetup that specifically targeted a focus/marketing research group. The client’s (a nonprofit organization) objective was to obtain feedback from attendees, vendors, and collaborators about their experiences to help the client improve their services and products.  Here are few tips to create this type of virtual meetup. The Event Format Outline
  • Create an agenda and/or timeline
  • Determine which platform that you will you to host the event ( I would recommend either Zoom or Google Meet
  • Develop a shortlist of questions to help you achieve your event objectives
  • Create ice breakers to help with engagement
  • Incorporate prizes of your products
  • You can also use music during the welcome and closing of the event
  • Create a mini script for your intro and outro
Craft Your Email Message The first section of your email message should include:
  • Thank your list them for their support
  • Highlight any achievements/milestones of the business within the last year
  • Mention the upcoming goals for the business
The second section of  your email message should include the invitation to the virtual meetup:
  • State what is the objective of this event
  • The importance of their participation
  • Date and Time
